What you can do to help your boat Sell

Break out the elbow grease!
It never hurts to give your boat a good scrubbing. Potential buyers often cannot see the beauty hidden beneath a few cobwebs and a layer of pollen. If you're unable to do this yourself, YourNewBoat recommends hiring a professional. There are several mobile detailers that have experience washing houseboats. Some of these detailers are even insured, making it much safer to use them than a dock mate's nephew with a borrowed pressure washer. Jason Cassell of Dockside Detail offers his customers free estimates, but for a full detail you can expect to pay about $12 a foot for the exterior of an average Houseboat (expect to pay more for a wax job). Jason can be reached at (865) 660-4777 or jason@docksidedetail.com better yet, check out all of their rates and info at www.DocksideDetail.com
Tim George of Captain T's Restoration & Detailing charges $17.50 a foot for exterior wax and can be reached at (865) 705-9949.

Set the Scene!
Staging can be pleasant. You don't have to have an apple pie baking in the oven all the time, but adding a few extra touches, such as having some candles around or the table set for dinner, can make the space more inviting.

Straighten Up
You may not be the most tidy person on the Lake and you don't have to be. But when your boat is on the market, try to keep things tidy and put away. Avoid leaving the counters cluttered and towels lying around.
